A *really* lousy photo of a painting I’m working on. I got a few new tubes of acrylics and wanted to do some really heavy experimenting. I’m amazed a got this far with the painting without really knowing what was going to happen, lets hope this dark road takes me someplace brighter.

Thanks very much! You’re too good. Sometimes I feel like my work suffers for not having a consistent method of working. When I make a digital painting, I combine emulating paint textures from the brush and then overlay a grainy texture that I’ve scanned in. Sometimes I start out traditionally with paint or graphite, then finish digitally. Right now I’m building a body of work that is solely traditional, so I like to work in and out of digital and traditional.

An illustration I did for the Mortgage Observer, I love the problem solving that goes into designing an illustration around something like German banks retreating from the US due to the Eurozone Crisis.
